The Town of Elizabethtown is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Performs difficult professional and administrative work; assists in directing the full activities of the fire department; does related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fire Chief. Must have thorough knowledge of fire administration, including organization, staffing, financing, equipment management and maintenance, records and reports; modern firefighting techniques and equipment; laws and regulations relating to the control and prevention of fires such as the ability to plan, layout and review the activities of personnel and maintain discipline; exercise good judgment; implement incident command system and maintain control of the scene.

Desirable education and experience include a high school diploma or higher with 10 or more years in a volunteer, combination or career department.

Applicant hired must have the following: NC Firefighter II, Haz-mat Ops, Emergency Medical Technician, Level II Instructor. Applicant must have or be able to obtain Fire Inspector certification under the International Code Council as it pertains to NC Fire Code.

Salary Range: $32,852 - $48,620 (Grade 14).
