The Elizabethtown Town Council will conduct a Special Called Meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Elizabethtown Municipal Building Council Chamber. The purpose of the meeting will be an open session to consider filling an existing vacancy on Town Council.
Effective June 2, 2008, Byron Graham was named the new Fire Chief for the Town of Elizabethtown. Prior to serving as Interim Fire Chief, Mr. Graham has been employed with the Elizabethtown Fire Department since November 1998.In naming Mr. Graham as the new Fire Chief, Mayor Sylvia Campbell stated, "With Byron's firefighting and fire prevention experience and qualifications, we are confident that he will serve the Town well as the new Fire Chief."

Board on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 7 p.m. in the Elizabethtown Municipal
Building Council Chamber. The purpose of the meeting will be to further
review, discuss and consider a Zoning Code Text Amendment as it relates
to Article 6, Section 6.5, Business Identification Sign Requirements, Case

The Town of Elizabethtown would like to welcome its newest employee, Ricky Smith, who has begun work in the Water Division of the Public Services Department.
The Town of Elizabethtown
is participating, along with Bladen County, in a Regional Task Force concerning
the Base Realignment And Closure (BRAC) plans for the military. Council
Member Scoti Ussery serves with Bladen County Commissioner Greg Taylor on
this task force. The purpose of the organization is to unify and coordinate
the community impact and initiatives associated with the Base Realignment
and Closure (BRAC) actions approved by Congress in November of 2005 and
to provide community support for installation requirements. The BRAC actions
will result in considerable growth at Ft. Bragg and in the local areas,
and there will be significant impacts on the workforce, housing, schools,
